- Prime new or bare surfaces with an appropriate Dulux Trade primer.
- Rub down previously painted surfaces thoroughly, using ‘wet flatting’ methods where possible, and wipe off with a damp, lint free cloth. Surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces over wood and metal require special precautions as they may contain harmful lead.
- Treat any knots in wood with an appropriate knotting solution and fill any surface defects with an appropriate filler.

- Allow at least 6 hours for the undercoat to dry before applying the gloss.

- For improved obliteration on rough or textured surfaces, or when using special process colours (see appropriate Dulux Trade colour card) 2 coats of Dulux Trade High Gloss will be required in order to achieve full opacity.
