Overview
Dulux Quick Dry MDF Primer and Undercoat is a water based primer and undercoat in one, suitable internal or external MDF. The water base gives it a lower odour than a solvent based primer and it's low in VOCs. It dries quickly and a standard coat of normal thickness will be ready for a re-coat in 2 hours.

Preparation
For best results, ensure surfaces to be painted are sound, clean and dry. New surfaces in particular must be fully dry and free from all defective or poorly adhering material such as dirt, grease or wax.
- Thoroughly rub down previously painted surfaces, using ‘wet flatting’ methods where possible, then wipe off with a damp, lint free cloth.
- Spot prime all nail heads and metal fixings with 1 coat of an appropriate Dulux Trade metal primer.
Note: Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead.
Application
Stir thoroughly before, we recommend to perform a test patch to ensure you are happy with the finished results.

- As with all water-based paints, do not apply at temperatures below 8 degrees celsius as recommended by British Standard BS 6150.
Airless Sprayer
- Minimum airless spraying working pressure on paint of 133 bars (2000 lb/sq in) with a spray tip size of 0.43mm (17 thou) and a spray tip angle of 60°. Conventional spraying satisfactory through most equipment.
Thinning
- New or bare surfaces: Add up to 1 part clean water to 5 parts paint.
- Normal use (do not exceed): Add up to 1 part clean water to 10 parts paint.
- Conventional spray: Add up to 1 part clean water to 2.5 parts paint.
- Airless spray: Add up to 1 part clean water to 5 parts paint.
Aftercare & Storage
Store and transport upright, with the lid firmly closed. Avoid extremes of temperature and protect the tin from frost.
